For this project, I knew that it had to be something that people would feel weird looking at. I had the idea of the mouth of the bust being open and something unnatural coming out of it. I asked around and I decided to have it be bugs. A lot of people don't like bugs and ants and so I decided it would get the reaction I was looking for. I decided to tie in the "ants at a picnic" theme by putting a checkered tablecloth with the ants crawling on top of it to add to the effect. I also included ants crawling out of the nose, ears, and over the cheek and eyes. When the bust came out of the kiln, a crack appeared on the skull towards the back. This helped in my favor as I was able to make the ants look like it was crawling in and out of the brain. The bust is in pain as the ants take control.
